This composition is a reaction to and partial recreation of James Benning's recent film 'L. COHEN', as well as a reaction to the impact that artists like Leonard Cohen and Glenn Gould have had on Canadian culture.

G. GOULD was composed, mixed and edited by Connor Kurtz, using a field recording created on Canada Day 2018 and improvisations on the Gakken SX-150 Mark II analog synthesizer recorded on August 28 and 29, 2018. It has been cut into two sections to adhere to Bandcamp file size restrictions.

This composition contains samples of Glenn Gould's 1955 and 1981 performances of Johann Sebastian Bach's 'Goldberg Variations' (1741) which were taken from the 'A State of Wonder' (Sony Classical / Legacy, S3K 87703, 2002) compilation.

This music was inspired by the works of James Benning, Glenn Gould, Leonard Cohen, J.S. Bach, Toshiya Tsunoda, Francisco López, Sachiko M and Michael Pisaro.
